The Governing Council

As President, Ms Preetha Ramprasat leads the Optometric Association of Tamil Nanbargal and carries its founding spirit, “Let us Join together”, into everything the association does. She presides over the Governing Council and sets the tone for how OATN works: openly, fairly and in the interest of its members.

The President guides the association’s vision, represents OATN with members, partners and the wider eye-care community, and ensures that the association’s programmes in education, advocacy and public eye health stay true to its mission.

Mr D. Samuel Vijay serves OATN as Vice President. He supports the President in leading the association and stands ready to preside and represent OATN whenever the President is unavailable, so that the association’s work continues without interruption.

The Vice President takes part in the Council’s decisions on strategy and programmes, and helps to build links between the Governing Council and the wider membership.

Ms BMS Deepa serves OATN as Vice President. She works alongside the President and the other office bearers to guide the association, and shares responsibility for carrying OATN’s priorities forward.

As a member of the Governing Council, she contributes to decisions on the association’s programmes and helps to ensure that the voices of members are heard in the Council’s deliberations.

Simpson George S is the Secretary of OATN and the association’s principal administrator. The Secretary keeps the association organised: preparing meeting agendas and minutes, maintaining official records and handling correspondence with members and outside bodies.

The Secretary is the link between the Governing Council and the membership, making sure that decisions are recorded accurately, communicated clearly and carried out on time.

Mariappan AC serves OATN as Joint Secretary. He supports the Secretary in the day-to-day running of the association and shares the work of administration, communication and coordination.

The Joint Secretary helps organise meetings, events and member services, and steps in to carry out the Secretary’s duties when needed, giving the association dependable continuity.

Latha Balaji Babu is the Treasurer of OATN. The Treasurer looks after the association’s finances: keeping accurate accounts, recording membership fees and other receipts, and overseeing payments so that funds are used carefully and for the purposes of the association.

The Treasurer reports to the Governing Council and the members on the financial position of OATN, supporting transparency, good governance and the trust that members place in the association.
